Yeah, I bet you've been waiting for this one. :)
Today I'll write about a game I've played a lot this summer: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 My first "war FPSgame", as I call it. The first game I've played (except a little bit of CoD and CS 1.6), where I shoot at someone who can shoot the same mass back, if not more.
At first I was very skeptical about this game, since the times I've played CoD I died all the time. And I've been a very bad loser in my entire life. Fortunately, I've gotten better by the age. But anywayz... As I told I was very skeptical about this game, but after nearly a year of nagging from Patrik, I finally bought it in May last year. And I have no regrets! In the beginning I sucked, of course, but who doesn't ..? I'm still not a pro, so am happy every time I end up with more kills than the Deaths at the end of a round ... x) (uhm, yes this is writen last fall, and I've gotten much better since then...)
I didn't play singleplayer first, I just jumped right into multiplayer! So called I was called a noob now and then in the beginning. But I have not actually been called a noobtuber! Something I am actually proud of, since it often happens with people and is very negative.
And then there was some info for those who do not know what Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is or means. Battlefield is a Swedish game series, which is taking place in a war. It's a different story in each game, but I've only played Bad Company 2, and don't know much about the other games. But in Bad Company 2 we have 4 classes/kits. Assault, which can give out ammo, medic, who can give out a medkit and ress people (if you have unlock the defib), Engineer, who can use the RPG, and Recon, which can use snipers. Each class have their own groups of weapons. That Assault are the ones who for example may have M416, while the Medic is the only one who can have the M60, etc. But there are also weapons that all classes can use, but it's mostly shotguns. The story of Bad Company 2 is about a squad that is sent on a mission after mission to finally stop the Russians from using a super-weapon against the United States. In order to get to the russians they need to f.eks. do car chases, sniping during a thunderstorm, blow up tanks and helicopters, and much more. And they have to go through deserts, jungles formulas and snowy areas. Personally I thought the car chase was fun :)
My opinions about the game:
- Fun gameplay. Now I talk mostly about multiplayer. You run for example around there, "minding your own buisness" and then suddenly you will be blown to hell, or a buddy spawns as a surprise to you so that you start shooting in all directions (at least that's how I got it). x) A lot of fun to play with friends :)
- Challenges. It is something I both like and dislike in this game here. The part I hate is when people cheat, that is, for example using "wall hack" and "Aimbot" (programs that basically do things for you, or so you can see through walls). These are the negative aspect of having on the opposing team, and you clearly feel that they cheat. Why must they ruin a game that can be fun for others? What's the point? Fair enough that they might have ranked up to max and possibly should have all the weapons on the platinum-star, but still. It's not fun for those who might be noobs. Would have been better if it had been set up a separate server for those who want to cheat, than let the rest of us to go through arduous struggles that are almost impossible to win. But now it was a little mass complaining. The challenges I like about this game when I play for example on the opposite team of Patrik (or other good friends). Then I try to kill them most of the time :p Which is actually a challenge, since most people have played a few hundred hours more than me, and rank 50 :P
- Good graphics. It looks realistic, but to a certain extent. Looks a bit unnatural when a person dies, and just suddenly dropped. xD But the graphics are good, and that is good, since I am a bit picky when it comes to graphics and image quality. A little hard to see through the dust clouds of snow or sand, but it also makes the game a little more exciting.
- Great unlocking system. Now I have to say I haven't played very much CoD, but that additional weapons and stuff (like the helicopter to help you) will unlock for you when you have that long killstreaks etc. I think that it's cowardly and unfair. This might not have a lot to do about the unlocking in Battlefield, but I mean, in Battlefield one can use the tanks, helicopters, UAVs, etc. as much as you want and when you want (except for those times when someone else has taken them before you). Each class has their own the weapons and equipment that need to Unlock. And to unlock the stuff in the different classes, you have to play as them! And to unlock the weapons all the classes you need to rank up. I unlocked everything around rank 25, I think. And max rank is 50.
- Varied environments. Who wants to play on 20 courses that that all look the same? No, that's just boring. But in Bad Company 2, you have snow, desert, and jungle enviroment. Different sizes of the maps too. The largest map is called "Heavy Metal" and is boring to play. The map is WAY too big for conquest. You MUST use vehicles to get back and forth between the bases fast enough to take them. However, "Arica Harbor" is much better. But perhaps a little bit small for 32 players. But crowded is exciting in my opinion :p But now I fell a little out of the environment ... ^^'
Could write more, but think I should end it here... x) Hope you enjoyed it ;)
